Book 3 high res. cover

This was my first venture into the magical kingdom of Pen Pieyu and, I can assure you, it won’t be my last! Thank you, Diane Mae Robinson for creating this quirky, wonderful world and for providing the reader with a brief synopsis of the previous adventures of Sir Princess Petra and her entourage of engaging friends. This was a really fun read and in Sir Princess Petra, Ms. Robinson has created a marvelous role model for young girls.

In this adventure, Sir Princess Petra must again outwit her father who, in his desire to curtail her unprincess-like behavior, has rewritten the “Royal Rule Book” with the intention of stripping her of her knighthood and returning her to more feminine pursuits. Needless to say, this does not deter our brave Princess. Along with her best friends, Snarls the dragon, and Bograt, the bog witch, Petra sets off on a quest to capture a car-panther (a creature no one knows anything about)!

I think my favorite encounter that the young Princess Knight has along the way is with Prince Norton Nastybun and the puny army from Kingdom Mesoggie. This episode had me in stitches throughout.

This is a truly engaging read for children and parents alike and I can tell you I await with great anticipation Ms. Robinson’s next offering which will be entitled GRAMMAR FOR KIDS AND DRAGONS. If there’s anyone who can make grammar fun, I think it will be Ms. Robinson!

This series has won many awards and they are well deserved. Enter the kingdom of Pen Pieyu and I know you will not be disappointed.

Dragon Books For Children and some facts about dragons

Dragon books for children, and the dragons that star in them, are as different at the author’s imagination.

For the most part, the dragon seems to be portrayed as the evil villan. And according to folklore, they were.Petra cover

Snarls is the dragon in my fantasy kids books series.

Book three, Sir Princess Petra’s Mission, is forthcoming December, 2015.

Any just to reassure you, Snarls is nothing like the description of the green dragon in folklore, even though he is green.

Green Dragons in Folklore http://www.draconika.com/types.php

Green Dragon

The green dragon is a belligerent creature and master of intrigue, politics, and backbiting. He is cruel. He prefers forests—the older and bigger the trees, the better. Instead of being overtly aggressive, he prefers to concoct elaborate schemes to gain power or wealth with as little effort as possible. He may make his lair behind a waterfall or near a lake, pond, or stream that provides a submerged entrance. The closer one gets to his lair, the darker the woods become. Evil hangs in the air, mingling with the forest scents to produce foul odors.http://www.draconika.com/types.php

The only similarity I see in Snarls as compared to the green dragon of folklore is that Snarls does live in the forest–The Forest of Doom. That does sound scary, but the forest is named The Forest of Doom because it belongs to the Doom Family. Snarls’s full name is, Snarls Lotsapuff Doom.

Snarls has actually been described as “endearing” by one book reviewer. Learn more about Snarls and some of the characters from book one, Sir Princess Petra – The Pen Pieyu Adventure, where you can also download a free coloring book.

First Review Of Sir Princess Petra’s Mission–Book 3 In The Muliti-Award Winning Children’s Series.

Book 3 high res. cover5 */ 5 *

Sir Princess Petra’s Mission (book 3, The Pen Pieyu Adventures)

by Diane Mae Robinson

Author Diane Mae Robinson’s third entry in the Sir Princess Petra series of award-winning chapter books for children rises to the same lovely level of delightfully imaginative storytelling as its predecessors.

This time Sir Princess Petra, the king’s daughter who refuses to be confined to girlie pursuits, must confront yet another seemingly impossible challenge. The challenge was designed by her father with the express purpose of relieving her of her ungirlie knighthood. Because she outwitted him before, he has rewritten the royal rule book, which a knight of the realm must adhere to or lose the knighthood.

Sir Princess Petra is charged with “venturing into the unventured land” of the Boogy Gobees to capture the first car-panther she encounters and deliver it to the Kingdom. Armed with only a cake knife and onions, the Princess bravely sets off with her best friend, Snarls the dragon, and Bograt, the bog witch. The pursuit sends them desperately splish-splashing their way through bogs and swamps and a spine-tingling forest of tree soldiers.

The conundrum of apprehending and delivering a non-existent car-panther is eventually resolved. What saves the day, and Princess Petra’s knighthood, is her appeal to the best of human nature, unselfishness and faith that doing the right thing will lead to a good end, values that are abundant in the previous books.

Also abundant in all three books is fun, wonderful, silly fun. The book is delightful.

Chapter One: The Princess

                                    SIR PRINCESS PETRA (book one)

Illustration by Samantha Kickingbird for Sir Princess Petra - The Pen Pieyu Adventures, book 1.THE PRINCESS

Petra curtsied to the king and queen of Pen Pieyu, who sat upon their thrones. “Father tomorrow is the ninth day of the ninth year.”

“Yes, my dear princess, it is your royal birthday. And according to royal custom, you may have anything your heart desires, as promised,” declared King Longstride.

“I have thought hard and for many passing moons. Jewels, frocks of lace, and princess games have become boring. The thing I want the most . . .” Petra hesitated and bit on her lip. “I want to be a royal knight.”

“A knight!” The king stood up and seemed to turn pale. The queen swiped her hand over her forehead and moaned. The king’s councilman got so excited he ran around in circles until he bumped into a royal pillar.

“Why, never have I heard such a request,” the king said, pacing and scratching his grey beard.“You are a princess . . . a girl. You must be big and brave and mean and nasty to be a royal knight.”

“Where is it written that a girl cannot be a knight and protect her kingdom?” Petra demanded.

The councilman urgently flipped through the royal rulebook. “It does not say so, Your Majesty. There is no rule.”

The king grinned and gave a quick wink to the woozy-looking queen. “To become a knight of my kingdom, you must choose an act of bravery from the royal list of deeds,” the king proclaimed, turning the page of the royal rulebook. “The choices are: to capture a crocodile and make his skin into a royal leather chair; to hush that howling, nasty dragon, Snarls, in the Forest of Doom; or to eat a roomful of raw onions.”

Petra peeked into the royal onion room. All nine of the palace soldiers were crying and munching away. The princess wrinkled up her nose. “Yuck, I will never eat onions! And the only crocodile I know lives in the moat and is my friend. I have no choice. I will hush the howling dragon, Snarls, in the Forest of Doom,” she announced. Promptly the queen fainted, and the king plopped down on his ragged,7leather royal chair. “But I will take a sack of onions with me,” Petra added.

The royal chef grumbled while he outfitted the princess with a suit of his best royal pots and pans, because the regular armour turned out to be much too large. And her sword seemed to resemble one of the royal cake knives.

Petra clunked out of the palace. “Goodbye, and don’t worry. I will throw onions at the beast until he cries. Then I will stab him with my sword. See, I can be a nasty, big meany.”

This review is from: Sir Princess Petra’s Talent (Kindle Edition) 5 *’s

When it comes to fantasy novels directed at children, I am particularly impressed by authors who canachieve a memorable story that is palatable for young people, yet still shows an underlying skill of writing and awareness of deeper meanings. The possibility of using literature for such an admirable purpose is what writers should get into the business for, and Robinson has certainly done that. I think Sir Princess Petra is a wonderful newheroine for a new generation, a female who breaks down gender roles and demonstrates self-confidence and pride in her passions. We too often put children into specific boxes of gender, social class, and expectations, and that’s simply incorrect. This book seeks to remedy that. While some parts of the plot were a bit heavy-handed in the delivery of their moral message, not all young readers will be as perceptive as adults, so more blatant associations and lessons must be used. I don’t think it took away from the story, and despite being considerably older than the target audience of this book, I enjoy good writing and interesting characters as much as the next person, particularly when I find a book that would be suitable for the young people in my family and social circles. I’ll definitely be recommending this series to friends with children who would benefit from such a positive, fun, and unforgettable series.

Award-winning adult novel, he & She, by Wayne Clark

This is a post/review/news release for the award-winning adult novel (genre erotica), “he & She”, by Wayne Clark.

In November, when I went to the Readers’ Favorite International Awards in Miami, to receive an award for my book, I had the privilege of meeting and talking to award-winning author Wayne Clark. I’ve read and reviewed his book (review below). Wayne has had a long career in journalism before he wrote his first novel, he & She, and his writing style proves he knows how to write the masterfully written word.

he & She is a superbly written and exciting novel! The story of Kit and his search for self is an emotional charged
plot line; Clark has masterfully portrayed the emotions through his excellent writing skills of intriguing characters
and original plot. The story is a perfect weave of lust, love, obsession, and finding one’s own sexuality. The sexual
nature of the story is also written with the utmost taste and sensitivity. The book is a real page turner– I could not
put this book down once I started reading it. Definitely one of the best reads this year!

Literary Erotica Novel Wins a 5 * Silver Medal in Readers’ Favorite Annual International Award Contest
Award winning author, Wayne Clark is pleased to announce that his literary erotica novel, “he & She” was a 5 * Silver Medal winner in the 2014 Readers’ Favorite Annual International Award Contest.

New York, NY, April 05, 2015 –(PR.com)– What does a man do when nothing tastes good anymore? he finds She.

A Web photo of a dominatrix sends a man in midlife crisis on a last-ditch attempt to feel truly alive one more time, even if it kills him.

Growing numb to life, to his on-and-off girlfriend of many years, his career, even Scotch, a man turns fifty. He is a translator who can no longer dream of translating beautiful works of fiction. He is an amateur musician who can no longer dream of expressing his life on a higher plane, without words. As he glares inside himself he sees little but his declining sexuality, his crumbling hold on life, a growing list of failed relationships, and a darkening well of loneliness.

Stumbling upon an image on the Internet one night, he suddenly hears cell doors sliding open. He stares at a young woman, in profile, beautiful, unblinking, and regal. Instinctively he knows that by lingering on that image he will shatter a relationship that has kept him on the sane side of loneliness as surely as if he stepped in front of a speeding eighteen-wheeler. But desperate to feel alive again before time runs out, he knows he must see the stranger behind the pixels on his laptop screen.

Although it is her image that first transfixes him, his eye afterwards chances on a handful of words on the Internet page. She is a dominatrix. The word triggers something inside him, blows the dust off fantasies trickling back to adolescence, and slowly begins to re-choreograph his decades of sexual memories. Was he ever really the dominant male he thought he was? Did he have a sexual alter-ego? Was this the last card he had to play in life? The face on the screen held the answer. He would find out even if it killed him.

Praise for he & She:
“… a stylish piece of literary fiction… intellectually engaging throughout. A finely drawn portrait of desire in its fall and winter seasons.”- BlueInk Review

“…All in all, this is a delectable novel about a man exploring his unknown sexual fantasies at the price of possibly losing his true self along the way.”- Red City Review

“he & She” is available in print and ebook formats.

About The Author:
Award-winning author Wayne Clark was born in 1946 in Ottawa, Ont., Canada, but has called Montreal home since 1968. Woven through that time frame in no particular order have been interludes in Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver, Germany, Holland and Mexico. By far the biggest slice in a pie chart of his career would be labelled journalism, including newspapers and magazines, as a reporter, editor and freelance writer. The other, smaller slices of the pie would also represent words in one form or another, in advertising as a copywriter and as a freelance translator. However, unquantifiable in a pie chart would be the slivers and shreds of time stolen over the years to write fiction.
